I have been busy this week, with some of the daycare kids sick, feeling kind of tired and run down myself, but I think I just need a good night’s sleep..
I got a knock at my door last night, and a good friend of mine dropped off
about 40 pounds of apples and 20 lbs of bananas.. She runs a food co-op and I guess she had a bunch of produce left over..
So this is what I am doing today, making applesauce..
I just cut up the apples and started them boiling on the stove, all 3 big pots are going and the house smells fantastic..
My old and trusty applesauce mill..
It’s been in the family for generations.
It may be old fashioned but it works oh so well.. the best part is all the kids want to take turns using it..
Some of the apples are ready and away we go, looks like I may be here for awhile but the kids are enjoying the process and by the time I am done I should have a bunch of freezer bags filled with delicious homemade applesauce, can’t wait to try it..

I've never seen an apple sauce mill! That looks delicious. I have never made my own, but use it many times as a substitute for butter in recipes!
